Our Ready To Learn Program gives specific curriculum, entitled The Learning Triangle: which consists of co-viewing strategies, suggests activities to help reinforce learning and recommends enticing children’s books to help promote literacy!

The Learning Triangle Consists of 3 Core Components:

1. Actively- get kids engaged, and talk back to the set. Ask kids to predict what they think will happen next. Encourage kids to act out scenes, or sing and dance along with the program.
2. Activities – games, arts & crafts, or a physical activity like taking a walk. Even a local outing such as going to the grocery store may be an opportunity to reinforce lessons in your children's television shows.
3. READ: Books, magazines, even the daily mail with your children. Then try to select books that highlight the themes in the programs your children have viewed.

An Example of the Learning Triangle:

1. Watch a segment of your child’s favorite show, such as Sesame Street, that is highlighting farm animals.
2. Turn off the TV and do something! Like visiting a local farm, or play a game of charades and have the children act out farm animals, or even just sing a song such as, “Old Mac Donald Had a Farm.”
3. Read a book about animals such as, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See?” by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle. Then ask questions like, “Which animals might live on a farm?” or “Which is your favorite farm animal, and why?”

It’s easy and fun. Why not give it a try, and see how much your child’s eyes will light up as you are spending some quality time with them and teaching them something positive too!
